چکیده

Effects of intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.) treatment with atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) on the pressor response to i.c.v.-injected clonidine were investigated in conscious rats. I.c.v.-pretreatment with ANP (10 micrograms) or BNP (10 micrograms) inhibited the pressor response to i.c.v.-injected clonidine (10 micrograms). Systemic (i.v.) treatment with ANP and BNP had no such effect. These results suggest that natriuretic peptides in the brain modulate the centrally mediated pressor response to clonidine.

The state dependency effect of morphine on memory by behavioral and electrophysiological methods in freely moving rats

Endogenous opioid system agonists exert amnestic effects in different models of memory. It has been suggested that these amnestic effects may be linked indirectly to state-dependent learning. Accordingly pre-training administration of morphine can impair the retrieval of learned tasks in a state dependent manner, which is reversible by pre test morphine administration. In this study, state depe...

Central a 2-Adrenoceptor-Mediated Pressor Response to Clonidine in Conscious, Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats

Pressor responses to intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.) injection of clonidine were investi gated in conscious spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and normotensive Wistar Kyoto rats (WKY). Clonidine (1-10 ,ug, i.c.v.) caused a dose-dependent pressor response and decrease in heart rate in both SHR and WKY. In SHR, low doses (1, 2.5 ug) but not high doses (5, 10 jig) of i.c.v.-clonidine in duced ...

Effect of methyldopa on brain cholinergic neurons involved in cardiovascular regulation. A study in conscious spontaneously hypertensive rats.

Chemical stimulation of brain cholinergic neurons in many species can produce hypertension. Recent studies in this laboratory have demonstrated that clonidine inhibits this central cholinergic pressor response by inhibiting the biosynthesis of brain acetylcholine. This study was designed to determine whether methyldopa, like clonidine, could inhibit brain cholinergic neurons involved in cardiov...

The Effects of Human New Pressor Protein and Coagulation Factor XIIa on Blood Pressure and Heart Rate in Bilaterally Nephrectomized Rats

Background: New Pressor Protein (NPP) is a human plasma enzyme structurally related to b–fragment of activated factor XІІ (β-FXIIa). The objective of the present study was to investigate the effects of NPP and β-FXIIa on systolic blood pressure and heart rate in bilateral nephrectomized rats. Methods: Forty male Wistar rats (250-300 g) were sham-operated or bilaterally nephrectomized under anes...
